We need you. The animals need you.
You might have noticed— we haven’t posted any transport morning videos this week of animals heading to better lives up North and wondering why…
Many of you have already supported us in a big way by donating to two separate van breakdowns so far this year, but sadly, the hits just keep on coming.
Just imagine driving your car to Colorado and back two times per week every single week. How often would your car need repairs and maintenance? ALL. THE. TIME. That is the reality for our vans. Our vans are the lifeline of Rescued Pets Movement; without our vans, we can’t save lives.
After multiple major van issues, we made the decision to take every single remaining van in our fleet that wasn’t ALREADY in the shop waiting on repairs to a local shop for a full workup and for several repairs we already knew were needed. We just can’t keep having breakdown after breakdown without animals paying the price, oftentimes with their very life.
It is no surprise that for the four vans we took to the shop, we are looking at a massive list of repairs. Oil changes, transmission repairs, AC repairs, major axle shaft issues requiring a complete replacement (this van was incredibly dangerous and not safe to be on the road), shock absorbers, the list goes on and on. We sit here looking at the growing list of repair estimates and are at a loss.
$22,208 for the four vans in Houston alone. This doesn’t include the two vans that are in the shop waiting for an estimate after breaking down in Colorado.
We had to push back our scheduled transports this week because of all these ongoing van issues, but thankfully, we do have dog and cats scheduled to leave today thanks to two outside groups who are helping us with vans. Only one of our vans is drivable now that the necessary repairs have been completed.
But we need you. The animals need you.
The two breakdowns we have fundraised for in 2024 have already depleted every penny many of you donated towards van repairs. We cannot keep saving lives without our vans, and we cannot get these repairs done without funds to cover them.
We are humbly asking for your help to not just get these vans back on the road, but also build up a fund for FUTURE maintenance and repairs that are inevitable. Please consider donating to RPM’s van fund today- YOU can, quite literally, save a life.
Many lives!
